Avis (10)
A rousing start to an unusual series.
This book more than lived up to my expectations, which were high based on reviews in Publishers Weekly and Library Journal, along with reader reviews.
Three Stars
Didn't read, gift for friend.
The best of a terrific series
Prohaska Novels)
I stumbled on this author while reading a review of some other book and thought I'd give him a chance.
Purchase rating
I knew the book before, purchase was ok, quick, described quality of the used book.
A Very Pleasant Surprise
I'm not sure why this came up on my recommended list but I'm glad it did.
The Great War's Anti-Hero
The reason I did not join so many others to rate this book a \"5\" on the Amazon rating scale is that, while excellent, this book is not really \"literature.
Enjoyable, with minor blunders
As a Hungarian, I noticed several spelling inaccuracies in his Hungarian characters, and a couple of times he repeated Austrian propaganda of the era with respect to us Hungarians.
Christmas shopping problem solved
I stumbled on this in a used bookstore.
Entertaining History
What a pleasure it is to read an entertaining story by someone who actually knows the ins-and-outs of that marvelous confection known as the Austro-Hungarian Empire!
Techno-Thriller Meets Ethnography
John Biggins had a great idea in writing a novel that follows the exploits of the Austro-Hungarian Submarine Service during the Great War.
