More philosophy than biography, John Patrick Diggins invokes Machiavelli, Niebuhr, Niestzsche, and Tocqueville in his deep interpretation of John Adam's politics.
I found one careless error. How many others are there?

Five Stars
Very interesting, learned many things I didn't know about one of our founding fathers!.
GREAT SERIES OF BOOKS
I read all the Biographies of the Presidents by way of the Presidential series.
I would read it again...
I probably should read this again just to make sure I retain all that I can, after all I am a historian..
Not close enough to success
\"John Adams\" by John Patrick Diggins is an installment in \"The American Presidents\" series edited by Arthur Schlesinger, Jr.
Good short bio of John Adams
Personally, I prefer more detailed biographies of historical figures as opposed to briefer ones.
Overanalytical for a summary history.
The author spent an ungodly amount of his space in writing about John Adams theories and thoughs rather than spend the necessary time talking about his short one term Presidency.
John Adams (The American President)
I found this book very concise and informational.
Adds Another Dimension
Unlike David McCullough's thoroughly personal biography on , Diggins presents us a biography that is more political than personal.
